Places, read slowly

Personal travel notes on streets, light, and the details that stay after the day's plans are done.

Selected observations

Small details, close to hand

Streetscape

Morning on quiet streets

Shutters half open, a bicycle leaning on a wall, the first coffee cart setting up. These are the moments that tell me where I am.

Ambient light

Afternoons in the shade

Late light slides across plaster and wooden doors. I spend longer here than I planned, and the story usually starts in that pause.

Unplanned routes

Following a side street

Some of my best notes come from roads I did not mean to take, where the view is ordinary and the attention is not.

Point of view

Room around the view

A place can be more than its most photographed view. I write about travel from my own perspective, looking at the details that surround the landmark.

Each essay is an unhurried account of what I noticed, what I missed, and what stayed with me once the plans were done.
